January 2026 Recap
I've been inspired by a bunch of other bloggers (mostly Leilukin) to start writing these little monthly recap posts. Work and brainfog makes it hard to write long posts or write super often, and to be honest, I don't think I even do enough to warrant a weekly recap, but a monthly one seems pretty manageable. It's a nice compromise between how frequently I'm currently posting and a challenge like 100 Days To Offload. So, you'll be getting at least 12 blog posts a year, plus my usual other blog posts about various topics, hopefully.
Without any further ado, what've I been up to in January?
40 Questions for 2025
A little while ago I read Ava's answering the 40 questions for 2025, where she answers Steph Ango's 40 questions to ask yourself every year. I thought it looked interesting, so this is my attempt at answering those same questions. Maybe this'll become a yearly tradition on my blog? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Blogging vs Brain Fog
Sometimes I'll mention struggling with brain fog to people and they'll respond something like "ugh, I know right, I hate when that happens 🙄" as if I told them someone cut in front of me at the grocery store. I don't know how to make them understand that this isn't a minor inconvenience to me, it's debilitating. There are certain days where it's so bad, that I straight up can't get anything done. Where doing basic tasks or holding a basic conversation is a challenge for me.
It's come to a point recently where it's not just impacting stuff like chores or work, even just trying to engage in hobbies feels like too much sometimes. Blogging should be so easy for me. It's literally just typing into a box. It should be so. Damn. Easy. And yet, every time I sit down to do it, I feel like I can't think clearly.

It's been about a month since my last blog post. Thought I should pop in real quick and give a few updates.
Linux First Impressions
One of my New Year's resolutions for 2025 was to switch to Linux. It's now July and I'm finally doing it. Better late than never I guess.Free Slurpee Day 2025
Today is July 11th (7/11), which means 7-Eleven is giving out free slurpees! Multiple 7-Elevens by my house have closed down, so we actually had to go out of our way to find a new one. When we got there the line was really long, almost going out the door! My brother got a mix of the green and blue flavors (he couldn't remember the actual names) and I got a mix of a little of everything.
As dumb as it sounds, this is something I kind of look forward to every year. I only drink one slurpee a year, and it's this one. It's also just nice to get out of the house sometimes, even if that place is a convenience store. Aside from going on walks, I haven't really done many summer activities this year. I guess when you get older all the seasons just kind of blend together and stop mattering. It's nice to enjoy the few "summerish" moments that I get.

Apparently this is a "hot take", but I honestly think more people should lie about themselves on the internet.
My Terrible Bookmarks Workflow
I recently added a link directory to my site, but I still have a ton of other pages that I’d like to share and categorize. I have a terrible habit of hoarding bookmarks and tabs and never going back to them. They desperately need a spring cleaning, but I’ve been preoccupied with my personal life and when I'm not busy with that, I'm usually procrastinating.
So lets take a look at my awful bookmarking systems. Yes, "systems", with an "s". I'm so scatterbrained that I can't even stick to just one.

I've tried to write and rewrite this blog post at least three times by now. Every time it ended up going off topic or becoming way too personal for my comfort. I have a few other blog drafts I'm working on, mostly about tech stuff. I could've just finished and posted one of those, but I guess I felt weird just jumping in without introducing myself or my site a little bit first.
